1. Daily Operating Room Sanitization

Pre-First Case

• Terminal cleaning completed and documented
• All surfaces disinfected with hospital-approved germicidal solution
• Operating microscope cleaned and covers changed
• Navigation system components sanitized
• Specialized neurosurgical instruments inspected and sterility verified

Between Cases

• Remove all disposable items and surgical waste
• Clean all horizontal surfaces with approved disinfectant
• Sanitize all equipment touchpoints
• Replace all surgical table linens
• Verify floor cleaning completed (3-foot perimeter minimum)

2. Equipment-Specific Protocols

Microscope Maintenance

• Optical surfaces cleaned with approved lens solution
• Control handles and touchpoints sanitized
• Microscope drapes replaced
• Articulating arms wiped down

Navigation Equipment

• Camera lenses cleaned per manufacturer specifications
• Reference array sanitized
• Workstation surfaces disinfected
• Cables and connections cleaned

3. Terminal Cleaning Requirements

Daily Terminal Clean

• Complete room breakdown
• Ceiling-to-floor cleaning with approved disinfectant
• UV light treatment if available
• HEPA filtration system checked

Weekly Deep Clean

• Light fixtures dismantled and cleaned
• Air vents inspected and cleaned
• Storage areas sanitized
• Equipment boom arms detailed

4. Documentation

Required Records

• Date and time of cleaning
• Staff member(s) performing cleaning
• Cleaning agents used
• Equipment-specific cleaning completion
• Supervisor verification signature

5. Quality Assurance

Weekly Checks

• ATP testing of critical surfaces
