Daily Opening Procedures

Pre-operative Room Preparation

• Don appropriate PPE (mask, gloves, eye protection)
• Disinfect all surfaces with EPA-registered hospital-grade disinfectant
• Set up sterile field for surgical procedures
• Check sterilization indicators on instruments

Between Patient Procedures

Immediate Post-procedure Tasks

1. Remove and dispose of all single-use items
2. Place contaminated instruments in designated container
3. Wipe visible debris from surfaces
4. Remove and dispose of PPE properly

Room Turnover Protocol

1. Apply new PPE
2. Clean all surfaces with enzymatic cleaner
3. Apply disinfectant with proper dwell time:
   • Hard surfaces: 5 minutes
   • Equipment surfaces: 3 minutes
   • Touch screens: manufacturer specifications
4. Clean floors with hospital-grade disinfectant

End-of-Day Procedures

Terminal Cleaning

• Deep clean all surfaces
• Sterilize all reusable instruments
• Empty all waste containers
• Restock supplies
• Document cleaning completion

Equipment Maintenance

• Clean and lubricate surgical handpieces
• Flush water lines with cleaning solution
• Check autoclave function
• Clean and disinfect imaging equipment

Weekly Tasks

• Deep clean storage areas
• Check expiration dates
• Validate sterilization logs
• Inspect equipment maintenance records

Documentation Requirements

• Daily cleaning logs
• Sterilization records
• Equipment maintenance charts
• Incident reports (if applicable)

Quality Assurance

• Monthly review of cleaning protocols
• Staff competency assessments
• Regular updates to procedures based on current guidelines
