Immediate Response Procedures

1. Emergency Assessment

• Obtain patient information and chief complaint
• Evaluate pain level (1-10 scale)
• Document injury/issue with photos
• Check medical history alerts

2. Triage Categories

Priority 1 (Immediate Care Required)

• Severe pain (8-10/10)
• Trauma to mouth affecting appliances
• Severe wire displacement causing tissue injury
• Acute infection or swelling

Priority 2 (Same-Day Care)

• Broken brackets affecting treatment
• Protruding wires causing moderate discomfort
• Lost/broken retainers
• Significant appliance damage

Priority 3 (Schedule Within 48 Hours)

• Minor bracket issues
• Loose bands without pain
