1. Pre-Operative Area

Daily Cleaning Requirements

• Clean all horizontal surfaces with EPA-registered hospital disinfectant
• Sanitize diagnostic equipment (ultrasound machines, monitors)
• Wipe down patient examination tables with quaternary ammonium compounds
• Clean and disinfect blood pressure cuffs and pulse oximeters

Weekly Requirements

• Deep clean floor with hospital-grade floor cleaner
• Sanitize walls up to 6 feet height
• Clean and disinfect storage cabinets

2. Operating Room

Between Cases

• Remove all disposable items and medical waste
• Clean and disinfect all surfaces with hydrogen peroxide-based cleaner
• Special attention to:
  • Operating table and attachments
  • Mayo stands and back tables
  • Anesthesia equipment
  • Imaging equipment (C-arm, ultrasound)

Terminal Cleaning (End of Day)

• Complete floor-to-ceiling cleaning
• UV light sterilization if available
• Clean and disinfect all fixed equipment
• Verify air handling systems operation

3. Post-Operative Area

Hourly Tasks

• Wipe down monitoring equipment
• Clean patient care surfaces after each use
• Sanitize computer workstations

Daily Tasks

• Deep clean all recovery bays
• Sanitize privacy curtains
• Clean medication preparation areas

4. Documentation Requirements

• Maintain cleaning logs for all areas
• Record terminal cleaning completion
• Document any maintenance issues
• Keep inventory of cleaning supplies

5. Quality Control

• Weekly ATP testing of critical surfaces
• Monthly environmental cultures
• Quarterly review of cleaning protocols
• Annual staff competency assessment
